Fillet Tilapia

Tilapia is a popular fish in aquaculture due to its ability to adapt to various environments and reproduce quickly. Tilapia is native to Africa, but it is now widely farmed and consumed in many parts of the world.

Tilapia is called the “chicken of the water” because, like chicken breast, it is rich in protein. It gained attention as a protein source during the food crisis after World War II.

1. Fillet

The more traditional cut. Taken from the side of the body, just behind and below the head. Super versatile, amazingly easy to prepare, and can be used in most recipes from fajitas to salads, soups, casseroles, and baked dishes.

2. Loin

The chunkiest cut. Taken from just above the tilapia’s spine, below the dorsal fin. The fish’s richest flavor and firmest texture.

3. Portion (Tender)

The smaller, more delicate cut. Taken from below the tilapia’s spine, behind the pelvic fin. Ideal for salads and soups, tacos and tapas, or in small bites to tempt fussy kids.

3. No Muddy Smell

When it comes to the taste of freshwater fish, it’s often associated with a distinct earthy smell. This is because the fish feed on sedimented food at the bottom of ponds, which includes mud.

However, our cultivated Tilapia at our company is raised in Lake Toba, which has a deep bottom. Unlike Tilapia bred in ponds, our Tilapia cannot access the lake bottom and therefore never consumes mud.

4. Antiboitics Free

Our products are completely free from antibiotics and chemical substances, providing you with confidence to consume them knowing they are safe and secure.

5. "Blue Food" Movement

“Blue food” refers to food derived from freshwater and marine environments, including plants, animals, and algae. Blue food is known to contain à variety of nutrients beneficial to the human body. It also has the characteristic of having a lower environmental footprint compared to land-based animal-derived food and being producible in a sustainable manner.

Blue food serves as a protein source for approximately 3.2 billion people worldwide and is particularly crucial in supporting the livelihoods of 800 million people, including indigenous communities in rural areas. The demand for blue food is expected to more than double by 2050.

At our tilapia factory, we are embracing the blue food movement and striving to contribute to overcoming food crises as much as possible.

Our tilapia products are not only sold domestically but also 90% of them are exported to the United States.
